MILITARY SUN HELMETS OF THE WORLD | Suciu & Bates

Postby Peter_Suciu » 25 Mar 2009 04:16

I have been a collector of helmets for nearly 30 years, since my great uncle bought me a helmet when I was 12 years old. In his honor - as he passed away last year - I used the money from my inheritence to self-publish a book on the history and evolution of military sun helmets.

This is a great forum, and while I am new here I found there to be many excellent discussions. I wanted to let everyone know about my book, which is dedicated to my great uncle Louis Suciu.

Hello, Peter, and welcome to the forum! Congratulations of your new book. It sounds like a fascinating topic and one I had not considered before. How can one go about purchasing the book?

Hello-
Thank you very much for the response. I will be selling the book through some dealers, but I will also sell the book directly. As soon as my copies arrive (which should be any day now), I will let everyone know.

This was truly a labor of love. I'm a full-time writer and this was a spend more money than I'll ever hope to make back! :o

Cheers,
Peter

Hello--
My book is now available. That's the good news. The bad news is that shipping to the UK could be almost as much as the book. Price is $34.95, and shipping is about $29.

Send me an e-mail to peter@militarysunhelmets.com if you are interested in a copy.

Dear Peter,
Congratulations on your new book!

I was touched to read your dedications to your grandfather and to Uncle Louis. May their
memories be eternal.

Take care,

Cousin Suzette

Strongbow,

you can get a copy from Naval & Military Press http://www.naval-military-press.com/mil ... world.html or Amazon.com http://www.amazon.com/Military-Helmets- ... 1894581520

You could also do a book search, say with http://www.bookfinder.com.

Stuart
PS. The website is down because it is being revised.

I am surprised that you, Stuart Bates did not put in a plug for your own book, "The Wolseley Helmet In Pictures, From Omdurman to El Alemein". It is the companion book to "Military Sun Helmets Of The World".
They are both fine books. There needs to be a follow up second volume to the series. The books just really scratched the surface of the subject.

Hi Ed,

we are collecting new material all of the time with a view to second editions but it is a very slow process.
