Just to say, thanks to all for your help in identifying the volunteer unit my g.grandfather served in during his last years in Madras.

As for other questions pending, when I return to home in July, I shall be able to review the other photos in the album, which are all small groups or individual portraits and so should contain some useful details of the Madras Volunteer Guards ca. 1886 for those who might be interested.

Hi all,

Have a rifle shooting trophy of the Madras Volunteer Guards for 1888; the event was won by Volunteer G. W.Taylor and Sergt. Instructor E. Kimberley M.R.V.

jf42 and Gordon, it is always interesting to see photographs, so it would be great if you are able to post them.

Cheers

It's possible that the 1886 photos will include the winners of the trophy in 1888.
