Update with a pic!!! Coldstream Guards 1890 - 1902?

Hello all

My Great Grandfather was Charles Arthur Parkes.
He was in the Coldstream Guards from Febuary 18th 1890 until May 24th 1902.
He was released due to Tuberculosis of the lung.
He held previous service with the 3rd Yorks & Lancs.
His Service number was #8010 and he was appointed Lance Corporal March 02 1900

Decorations where
South African War Medal 1899-1900
with clasps for Belmont, Modder River and Dreifontein.

Could anyone point me to a direction of information on them during the Boer War.

I can't come up with anything hard and solid on previuos searches.

I have a rough copy of his Attestation papers that my Father got from the Coldstream Guard a number of years ago.

After his Military career he spent a short stint with the York City Police/ East Riding Constabulary 1902 - 1906.
He passed away in 1906.

Update
I was sent a picture that a chap in Australia had in his archives.
My Great Grandfather in the upper left hand corner.
The picture was taken when he was called to duty from the reserves to serve in the Boer War.

I could never find anything with good details of their adventures during the Boer War.

Every once and a while I do a google search of his name.

Once again, someone has posted something new with his name attached.

Hello there,

From the diary of my relative Edmond (1st Batt Gordon Highlanders) it would seem that when the Gordons were sent in to assist the Highland Brigade at Magersfontein, they came under friendly fire from the Coldstreams located to their right !

Not exactly of tremendous interest but it does go to show that the term 'friendly fire' may be a modern one but it is as old as the hills (or should that be musket ?) !
