Walter Richard Pollock HAMILTON VC

I've just acquired this photograph of Walter Hamilton V.C., dated 22nd June 1878.

So I thought I'd share it with those of the forum who might be interested.

Absolutely fantastic. I just got some (more) lovely ILN prints of the Bala Hissar Residency to add to my collection (edit note: where Hamilton unfortunately met his end).

Nice one!

Having spoken to Acanthus we believe that the other chap is Lt. Henry Wentworth Hughes. I have taken Hughes from the three well-known photos of the Guides 1878 - 1880.

Good call, think you've got him. At first I wondered if it might be a brother, but I don't think any of Hamilton's siblings went into the military (?). His father and at least a couple of brothers were lawyers. Looks very much like Lt. Hughes.
