I couldn't fail to notice a difference between bazzaboy green cuffs and the cuffs on the tunics from the Diehards. any particular reason ? I'm asking because my wife is attempting to make a similar uniform....
thanks,

Guy

Guy,
i think its down to which tailor you go to for the slight colour change... i got mine from the history bunker, and i am very happy with it...perhaps the die hards have a different supplier..... :)
on another note, a friend found this of me at war and peace(Beltring ) official site last year. i was sat in our ww2 display hence the green tent and didnt realise my ugly mug was being photographed

All the more historically accurate. A variety of dyes were used and the red dyes were particularly notorious for changing colour over time. I have seen complaints from early Victorian India about red coats turning pink or brown over time. But that's what happens when you use variable natural dyes like madder and insist on exposing it to lots of sunlight...

Long overdue, but here are a couple from me:

Image
This one was taken two years ago at a multi period event.

The next two, last sunday in the backyard. The soldier on the left is my second youngest son.

The picture below, at another multi period event. The "aussie" ALH bloke, is a good friend of mine, and we were asked by spectators to pose for a snapshot, hence he turning up with us.

enjoy, and thanks for looking.

I have just spent a fanastic day ( saturday) at the Brecon Museum, the spritual home of the 24th. i had a great day with the lads and ladies from the 1879 group. the museum was re opening the zulu war room after a very good refurbishment/ improvement..had such a great day with a great group and listening to talks on the zulu war, that i totally forgot to take any pics :(
i fully endorse this museum for anyone interested in 24th history.you will not be disappointed.
i did only have one pic taken..
A big thank you to the curator / staff at the museum, for making me feel welcome..and all the 1879 group.. i have learnt so much.

I went to one of these in Brisbane - it was strange seeing a Roman centurion chatting to a member of the SS whilst a depiction of the battle of Waterloo was being played out with all 10 indivduals. That aside, I have to say the uniforms of all of the participants no matter what era were truly remarkable.

Yes, I know what you mean. Sometimes various pre 19th century periods get together to "attack" anything that is 20th century.
this year we had over 800 participants between stone age and the Vietnam war, with the middle ages being the largest group.
Still I had an interesting chat with a history teacher, having been to South Africa and who had visited the battlefields of the Zulu war and Boer war.
