Unidentified Boer War Memorial Unveiling Ceremonies-Help

Postby dunnboer » 14 Jan 2012 16:18

I have been collecting postcards showing the unveiling ceremonies of Boer War memorials for 30 years but these 2 cards have me beaten. Does anyone recognise them? The second has the date June 23rd 1903 and appears to be an english town, but where?

I have an inkling that the first card is the Duke of Connaught arriving on Guernsey for the unveiling there in 1905 but cannot positively identify the scene. Any thoughts welcome!

Paul

Hello Paul,

I have no record of an unveiling on that date - have you tried The Times for that period?
