Hello Jonathan and all.
Here are some pictures of the 1821P Wilkinson Light Cavalry Sword with the serial number 5005 made in 1854 for
Lord Walter Charles Montagu Douglas Scott who became a Lieutenant in the 15th Hussars in November 1854 when this sword was purchased.It's blade is just under 36 inches in length and still retains all it's original polish.
It has the Wilkinson patent Solid Hilt with words to that effect etched on the blade, and the proof button is not standard, but more fancy than the normal design.
The family are today Still "Dukes of Buccleuch", and have their residents at
Drumlanrig Castle, Thornhill Dumfrieshire Scotland.
