Hospital Sgt Christopher REILLY, 552 4th Kings Own, Crimea?

Postby kowandi » 19 Jul 2011 01:39

I have just joined the forum and I am interested in finding out any information on
the 4th Regiment of Foot(The Kings Own) during the Crimean War. One of my wife's
ancestors served with the Regiment in Australia(1831-1837),India(1838-1848).
His details are : Christopher Rielly(Reilly)-Hospital Sgt- Reg No 552.
Unsure whether he remained with the Regiment on its return to England, but in
1855(approx) he joined the Armagh Light Infantry and served for 21 years.
Very curious as to whether he may have served in the Crimea and would be grateful
for any info that is available!!

I had a look at the Crimea roll but it is very poor in many places and the 4th is a good example. I couldnt find him on the roll (doesnt mean he isnt there though).

Doesnt appear on the Casualty roll for the Crimea either

Hi Steve
Thanks for the info-have found out through another source that he left the regiment in 1849
and then he joined the Armagh Light Infantry for 22 years.
