Where to find Home Service helmet replica

I am trying to piece together a Uniform and I'm not sure where to find places to get these things made I'm looking for reproduction places

I haven't used them, so this is not a recommendation, but these guys do Home Service helmets: http://www.victorianstrollers.co.uk/stevesuniforms/forsale.html . They are pricey though. Also these guys: http://www.scarletgunner.com/supply .

I think they can be obtained from the outfitter that supplies the army IIRC, but I can't remember the details.

Note again that I have used neither supplier, so can't personally recommend them.

Hello,

The Village Hat Shop do a nice copy suitable for pre Federation Australian volunteer units. Their foreign service helmet is well made.....You made need to move the cloth band slightly lower, it sits up higher in reality than in the photos.

Museum Victoria have a nice collection of Colonial era Victorian uniforms, can I suggest you start here for patterns, styles, etc.

I bought my Home Service Helmet from Steve on the Victorian Strollers website and must say that it's the finest repro item that I have in my collection. As Chris says, they do come a bit pricey and I also had to provide my own helmet plate.

Hillebrandt I have seen Steve's site before and yeah that's what worries me, the home service helmet is almost as expensive as the uniform, the white pith helmet is going to cost me $40 online, the uniform will cost me £200 at 19 century tailoring, but the home service helmet is like £200 and some at Steeve's site, I'll email the other link and see what their price is, for a reproduction I'm hoping for it to find it a little cheaper

A bit of thread necromancy; I've been after a home service helmet replica myself but £200 seems to be the cheapest I've found online; does anyone know of any other suppliers that have not been mentioned?

First off, where are you located?
If you are refering to the blue cloth Home Service helmet :
Rounded peak or pointed?
If you want to start buliding one up from scratch you can get a repro from http://www.ushist.com
They sell an Indian wars replica dress helmet for around $60, also chinchains , but I think they might be short ones (not the full drape around).

I am told there is a dealer in the UK called Peter Green who can supply cruciform bases etc, have not found contact info for him yet. Might be the fella who supplied the Thin Red Line webstore, not sure. If you get contact info, pass it back this way =)
I have found a replica helmet on Alibaba.com made in Vietnam, cant locate it right now. Search around in there, not saying this is true, but I would not be surprised if the one discussed above comes from Vietnam or India. If I find any more info I will post it.
