Check out the tables of organisation in
The Army Book of The British Empire by Goodenough and Dalton. It can be got as a print version, or for free as a PDF (outside Europe - or in Europe if you know how to use a proxy

) or read online here:
http://www.archive.org/details/armybookforbrit00daltgoog. It shows what the state of play is in 1893. Things are pretty much the same as for the Boer War except for the actual establishment of privates. Also remember that the regimental system is reformed for infantry in 1881 (Childers Reforms).
EDIT: Forgot to say, the Soldier's Pocket Book is a great resource! Although of course for 'soldier' read 'officer'.
