Hi
I have a 2nd China War medal with a bar for Taku Forts 1860 awarded to a soldier in the 31st Regiment. Does anybody know of any other actions the 31st took part in during the war.

Cheers

Mon General, if by you action the British Army is annihilated, England will never pardon France, and France will not be able to pardon you! Always looking for medals to the Irish Regiments: 18th, 27th, 83rd, 86th, 87th, 88th, 89th,

31st Regt arrived in Hong Kong 23 Apr 1860.
Disembarked at Talien-whan Bay 29 Jun 1860 and reached Pehtang on 2 Aug.
With 2/60th Regt, they took the entrenched positions at Tang-ku Forts on 13 Aug
In reserve for attack on Taku Forts, and Regt reached Tientsin on 30 Aug
They moved towards Pekin, but 2 Coys were left at Tong-tsin after 2 days march and the remainder were left in garrison at Hoo-see-woo.
Some members of the Regt are entitled to the RP clasp for service in the commissariat or with the coolie corps
Remainded at Tientsin till Apr 1862 then moved to Shanghai. Embarked for England Jun 1863.
