Hi!

Hi,

I am just writing a hello to all of you. One of my main interests for a number of years has been the 'small wars' of the Victorian era; in particular those in India. I stumbled accross this forum some time ago and have decided to take the plunge and join (yes, this does mean I have a question for all you in cyber space!).

As part of my interest in the Victorian period I collect bits of Victorian militaria, mainly swords. I have a keen interest in medals of the period also, but as my interest is not matched by funds all I do is look read online and visit museums etc when I can.

I hope that as well as learning from this forum I can in time become a productive participant!

Kind Regards

Ian

Hello, Ian, and welcome to the forum! I, too, have a strong interest in British military swords of the Victorian period. Be sure to check out some of the topics in the Weapons sub-forum, as well as the Collector's Showcases featuring swords. I hope you enjoy your time here and I look forward to hearing about your swords!

Hi,

In my small (and it is small!) collection I have only British Military swords all Victorian with the exception of one Georgian slotted hilt infantry sword. By far and away the most interesting sword in my possesion is an East India Company Bengal Artillery officers sword owned by a man who served throughout the mutiny including the siege and capture of Dehli and the Oudh Campaign. Sadly I don't own any medals (due to cost) but really enjoy the research aspect as it brings to life the period and the people.

Hopefully I will be able to enjoy my time here!

Kind Regards

Ian
