Can you narrow it down to a town, or city Jack, as some barracks had an official and unofficial name?

Hi Jack

Possibly Crook Lane Barracks was located in the township of Barnard Castle in the County of Durham as mentioned in the following Google Books link

http://books.google.com/books?id=DJAOAQ ... edir_esc=y

This is only available to me as a snippet view, but depending where you live may possibly be available full view.

Cheers

Thanks folks, Crook Lane Barracks was mentioned in a letter dated 1907 in Work Point Barracks, Esquimalt, contex. (haven't seen the letter as yet)...The Royal Artillery and Royal Engineers left Esquimalt (Victoria, B.C.) in 1906 bound home for Britain and left this colonial barracks to the locals ! .......I have adopted Work Point Barracks and all its history, specifically the original guardhouse, recently sold to off as a project, hence my searchings........jack
