Daytime drill

Postby HerbertKitch12 » 09 Oct 2017 13:44

Did the regular rank and file have a daily drill on the training ground at the barracks? Were officers expected to observe and instruct accordingly, notably did the drill change if the regiment was expected to or had been called up to war?

I am mainly talking late 19th century here, 1880 onwards.

Any feedback hugely appreciated as usual.
