Axe drill

Postby rd72 » 13 Jan 2012 04:55

Hello all,

I know that this is technically not a weapon but I thouhght that it would be the best fit here...

I'm looking for information regarding the ceremonial applications of the axe as carried by Infantry Pioneers. I know of a reference, Manual of Field Engineering Vol. 1 (All Arms) dated 1933, that apparantly has the movements in it, but I don't have it.

Is there anybody with a similar reference for Victorian times? Or maybe someone with firsthand knowledge?

Thanks,
Rob

Hi Rob

The publication mentioned is listed in the catalogue of the British Library in London.
There are also similarly titled publications for 1888 and 1911.

Cheers
