11th Hussars 1853p sword Liege inspected

Postby Will Mathieson » 08 Aug 2012 02:00

Marked to the 11th hussars on the guard XI H/122 and a Liege inspectors mark crown/L/8 and two crown/inverted broad arrow.
Strange that it is mated to a 16th lancers marked scabbard though an auctioneer Anderson& Garland sold a similar one in Sep 2011, only the sword was marked 16th L and the scabbard marked 11 H.
Is it possible that the 16th lancers were issued the older 1853p swords of the 11th Hussars?
Did this sword participate in The Charge of the Light Brigade??
