How to attach images to your posts: tips and tools

Hi all

I have recently been asked a question regarding the maximum sizes for images attached to posts. I thought I would share the answer with you all just in case anyone is unaware.

- Maximum dimensions: 640 x 640 pixels

- Maximum file size: 256kb

- Maximum number of image attachments per-post: 5

Is there any place that one can attach a photo to a post.Can't seem to find any way or any instructions on how to do.

upload your photos for free here and then use the IMG tab to copy the photo and paste to your post...Mike.

I know it can be done, but I don't as yet know the sequence. How are images attached to text posted on this forum? I have some text I wish to insert two images to, in two seperate pertinent places of the text. Please advise as to procedure.

When you are creating a post there is a tab at the bottom that says "Upload attachment". Use that to upload the image. To the insert the image between sections of text you will then choose "Place inline". This will generate the BBcode for the attached image and you can then place it where you want it in the topic. Here is a screen shot demonstrating what I mean.

Good on you, Jonathan. Though I give you reason to complain with the post I will be including images with, it was observed by personnel of the British Empire, located in the weapons section. More on the XIII inch Bore Seacoast Mortar as it relates to Crimean operations when I get the orders of Dundas' and the sequence of events sorted out, as well as the crews of the MV's. I don't supose you could tell me how to reduce a picture size. I have some pictures I thought might be of interest to forum members. When I tried to post them I was given a message saying the were to big. Unfortunatly when I try to reduce the size the pictures are gust cropped.

Open the image on your PC with Microsoft Picture Manager or I imagine any other image viewing software you may have and you'll find an image resizing option. (but I use picture manager)

Hi All

I have installed a modification that allows you to post images that are larger than 700x700 pixels but will automatically resize it to fit the forum style template. However, by clicking on the image once posted it will expand to its original size. I have also doubled the maximum file size from 256kb to 512kb. See photo of the Brown Bess bayonet below for a demo.
