Hello all

I am pleased to announce that our member Colonel Mike Snook has been made our first “Honorary Academic Advisor” to the Victorian Wars Forum. This is in recognition of his academic achievements within the area of study which is the focus of this forum. Many of you may know Mike’s published works which include:

- Into the Jaws of Death: British Military Blunders 1879 - 1900
- How Can Man Die Better: The Secrets of Isandlwana Revealed
- Like Wolves on the Fold: The Defence of Rorke's Drift

If you have read any of his books you will be aware of his very high academic and literary skills and his in-depth knowledge of his area of research.

I am sure you will all agree that Mike is an excellent choice to hold this title.

Congratulations Mike!

Hello all

I am please to announce that our member Liz has been appointed as an additional Moderator here on the Victorian Wars Forum.

It is always very difficult to choose new moderators since many of you would be fantastic in the role. However Liz has been with us from almost the the start of the VMF and, as you will be aware, has made many wonderful contributions. As we grow we will no doubt appoint more moderators if anyone would interested in joining the staff team.

Please remember she will be new to the role so give her some time to settle in

Welcome aboard Liz!

Mark,

A great choice. Not only can she now keep us lot in order, but she can also stamp out any mischief our colonial cousins down under may make! :D :D

Well done Liz!

Change of Username

Postby DavidB » 30 May 2011 23:25

This is just to let people know what's happened, so you're not wondering who this new user is with loads of posts already... :D
I was amoaful73, I'm now David B.
The reason for the change is that I'm now active on Mark's other forum, the Napoleonic Wars Forum and I wanted a username I could use for both. amoaful73 relates to the Ashantee War of course, so wasn't too apt over the way. Hence a nice neutral username, ie my name!

Are you sure you are not doing this just so we have to welcome you to the forum again?
But seriously folks, just how many forums does Mark have? What are they? I guess Mark should answer that. It might be nice to see whats going on in some of them.

Oh yeah, welcome to the forum DavidB.

Hi Ed

As Jonathan said above I have just the two forums, this one and the Napoleonic Wars Forum. Two is enough so there won't be any more additions to my forum family! However, I am a normal member of and a daily visitor to the British Medal Forum and drop into the Great War Forum once in a while.
