Khaki Drill Tunic ID Help?

Postby aaronmc902 » 27 Apr 2012 01:48

Can anyone point me to the era this might come from? I know it's not made in the WWI period but would the design be appropriate? thanks!

lol I know how it can be annoying when people use the wrong termonology for things, in my defense I'm new :D

TY for that though, I know this particular tunic was made after ww2 but from pictures I've seen of the Palestine campaign in WWI it looks like what was being worn by the infantry of that time and in that area, wwi mid-east is my area of interest now ( as of a few months at least)

Just a followup to see if anyone else had any background on this particular style of tunic and if it is appropriate for the WWI period, thank you!

There is a whole thread on this subject (very detailed) here: http://1914-1918.invisionzone.com/forum ... try1608453
where you are likely to find the answers to your question.

It is definately the 1924 pattern - as is the similar KD frock on this post:http://www.victorianwars.com/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=7092

The simplest way of determining this is by the central vertical seam running along the back - earlier versions have the double 'fishtail' seams. There is a trader on Ebay who regularly sells these as 'WWI pattern' - I suspect he knows better.

I had another post on this forum (under AndrewM - I've been away for some time and lost my password, hence the new username), where I posted some photos: viewtopic.php?f=19&t=1196
