Equipment: sword belt, British in the Boer War?

Gents!
I need your help to identificate this item. I've bought it a couple years ago as "Boer War era British officer's sword belt..." (or something like that), but I still have no idea about it's origin.... British or not? Infantry or Cavalry (it has too long slings)?..
What do you think?
