Cameronians (Scottish Rifles) 'busby'

Postby jf42 » 22 Jul 2017 06:27

Greetings.

Is anyone able to tell me anything about Scottish Rifles buglers wearing a 1890-style Rifle 'busby' (- i.e the second pattern introduced that year to replace the HS helmet ordered for Rifle regts in 1881)?

I stand to be corrected but I was surprised to see reference yesterday to a cap attributed to a 'Sco. RIfles' bugler yesterday. I was under the impression that the Regiment replaced their HS helmet with the Rifle green shako circa 1892. Was there a brief period when they conformed with the other Rfle Regiments (Surely not)?
