The Desert in Sudan

My Christmas project is building a gaming board for my Sudan campaign based on the operations around Suakin in 1884 and 1885. The boards are now ready to paint; I've spent most of Boxing Day researching the colour of the sand in this area but the photographs I've found via Google seems to show a landscape of various colours range from a deep red sand right through to a grey sand.

Has anyone been fortunate to visit this area and taken any photographs; if so would you be willing to share them?

Well .. this is what Google Earth shows. Its Satellite imagery so it must be pretty close.
