Same here! I stumbled across the first of a two-part documentary on the fall of Singapore in 1942 on BBC2 yesterday. If it wasn't by pure chance of flicking through some channels I would have missed it. No idea how I manage to do that.

Anyway, that one is way out of the focus of this forum! :D

Anyone watch this? What did you think?

I thought it was rather well done and offered a fair and balanced view.

Hello,
I enjoyed it a lot and found it well balanced. He did a similar programme about Lawrence of Arabia a year or two ago. He has also written an excellent book, The Places In Between , about his walk across Afghanistan in 2002. If you miss the documentary it should be on BBC Player.
Best wishes,
Al

Enjoyed it. Was fairly even-handed and reminded us, yet again, that outsiders invade Afghanistan at their peril!

I guess we could email the BBC and ask.

surely what nutters, nerds and anoraks and indeed aficionados need is an internet equivalent of a press-cuttings service, whereby we enter such as:

Military/ Victorian/ British/ [or Canadian or indeed anywhere]/ uniform/ weapons/ wars /battles / ..........

and some kind soul sends an email or text or twatter or whatever and bobs your uncle.

I expect I have re-invented the wheel and such a service exists?

Really enjoyed both films. Rory Stewart is a very engaging presenter. Definitely worth a view on the BBC iPlayer if you missed them.

Sadly I missed the second episode as I wasn't at home to see it. However, I will catch up with it on iPlayer in the next day or two.
