SA bar 1879 2/3rd foot medal help

Hi all,
Again I have another SouthAfrica medal with bar 1879 but this time originally named to an Officer in the 2/3rd Foot. Can anyone help share any information at all on him from medal rolls / Regt histories etc please.

This from The South African Campaign of 1879, by MacKinnon & Shadbolt, published 1880:

Captain Howarth, W. C.

Capt. Howarth proceeded to Natal in May, 1879, in charge of a draft, and, joining the regt. in Zululand, served with it in the later operations of Crealock's Divis., including the advance to Port Durnford.

If I can start by correcting his name, it should be William Conquest Howarth. In addition to serving in the Zulu War he also served with the 1st Battalion as a Lieut. during the Perak Expedition of 1875-76, for which he was awarded the 1854 India General Service Medal with Perak clasp.

From the roll his Zulu War medal was sent to 45Bde Canterbury.

He was initially appointed an Ensign on 23 Jan 1869, promoted to Major in the Buffs (3rd Regt of Foot) on 30 Nov 1883, and died a Lt Col. on 13 April 1911. If someone else has access to Hart's Army Lists they can perhaps fill in the gaps in his career.
