Hi Dutch,
So which Private John Simmons was he? In the Indian Mutiny we find:
258 Pte John SImmons, 3/Rifle Brigade
1000 Pte John Simmons, 3/Rifle Brigade
447 Pte John Simmons, 2/Rifle Brigade
1642 Cpl John Simmons, 1/10th Regt

I'm not entirely sure what your question is.
You're looking for his wife? Are you looking for a possible military marriage?
